Youth Policy Dialogue with Commissioner Michael McGrath

On 10 March 2025, Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, will host his first youth policy dialogue to exchange views on the democratic empowerment of young people. 

Protecting and reinforcing democracy is a priority for the European Commission. The Commission is working on a new European Democracy Shield, to address the most severe risks to democracy in the EU. As part of this work, the Commission will foster democratic participation. Young people play an important role in this. 

This event will be an excellent opportunity for young people to share their views on how to shape policy measures that will promote citizens’ empowerment and engagement.  

The Dialogue will be moderated by Hajar Yagkoubi, former Dutch Youth Representative to the United Nations, and Jochem Jordaan, Founder of De Kiesmannen, dedicated to increasing civic engagement among young people.
