Youth Policy Dialogue with Commissioners Micallef and Hoekstra

Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra will hold a Youth Policy Dialogue with Commissioner Glenn Micallef, titled “Youth on the Frontlines of Climate Resilience”. The Dialogue will gather 17 young people to talk about climate resilience and preparedness, also looking ahead at the upcoming climate resilience framework. 

Participants will have the possibility to discuss five main topics: 

  • Extreme weather and health: what climate resilience means for the health of Europe's young people and communities.
  • Food, water and nature: how we build resilient food and water systems, and the role that restoring nature play.
  • Cities, infrastructure and just transition: energy infrastructure, housing vulnerability, and ensuring that adaptation doesn't leave behind low-income communities or regions already facing economic pressure.
  • Climate education and capacity building: Equipping youth and communities with the education, skills, tools, and accessible information needed to identify climate risks and to participate in and drive adaptation
  • Youth voice in adaptation policy: Ensuring that adaptation policies protect younger and future generations and exploring how the perspectives of future generations can be given real weight in policy design.
