DiscoverEU Meet up in Rovaniemi, Finland

Experience the magic summer of the Arctic Circle!

Welcome to the capital of Lapland and the official hometown of Santa Claus! This unique Meet up invites you to explore the northern culture, nature, and some Christmas magic—also in the summer.

Participants of the Meet up will stay for three nights in mixed dormitories at a local hostel. The program includes three breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners, along with all activities and a two-days ticket for public transportation. That’s right—free accommodation, food, and experiences await you!

All you need to do is book and cover your travels to Rovaniemi and ensure you have personal insurance coverage. Located on the Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi is well-connected via direct 8,5-hours day trains or 12-hours night trains from Helsinki.

The Meet up takes place from Wednesday evening 6th to Saturday morning 9th of August. It promotes nonformal and informal learning and includes:

• Visiting the renowned Arktikum Science Centre
• Exploring the magical spots of Rovaniemi, including the Santa Claus Village
• Half day hike to the Ounasvaara nature trails
• Sweating in an authentic Finnish sauna
• Familiarizing with the Finnish culture and cuisine
• Getting to know new friends from across Europe 

Detailed program will be shared with selected participants.

There is room for a maximum of 16 participants. The event is open to those traveling with their DiscoverEU pass at the time of the Meet up or former DiscoverEU travelers and now DiscoverEU ambassadors from Finland.
