Bratislavske dobrovolnicke centrum (Bratislava Volunteer Centre)

Bratislava, Slowakije

Through this 12-month project, BDC is looking for 2 nature-lovers (with Russian/Spanish/Italian) who will help the State Nature Protection team, where they can choose to engage in activities of environmental protection such as: mapping and marking protected sites, rescuing animals (SNR transports small injured wild animals/birds to the ambulance and rehabilitation station), counting protected plants/insects in a given area, administrative work (needed a personal laptop), help on the farm (grazing herd, veterinary assistance, etc.), tree management, recording mushrooms and mosses. This offer provides volunteers space to build upon their strengths and interests within this broad area of environmental protection. Vast majority of work takes place outdoors and requires being physically fit. Participants get in a close touch with nature with everything it entails (insects, wild wooden/bushed territories) regularly. Previous volunteer experience

Regelingen voor accommodatie, eten, en vervoer

Bratislavské dobrovoľnícke centrum (as hosting/lead organization) will provide an adequate place to live - a room furnished with basic equipment in a shared flat or house together with other ESC volunteers. BDC is responsible and provides a volunteer with pocket money, covering food, local transport costs and travel arrangements to and from Bratislava within a standard of living in the hosting country.

Wat leer je?

BDC will take care of the Orientation training upon arrival and provides additional trainings to improve soft skills such as time management, project management, financial literacy, etc. on a regular basis, and every 3 months organizes a mandatory supervision meeting so a participant can reflect upon own experience. The SNR provides introductory training directly related to the skills necessary to do a particular job. Further, a volunteer is obliged to attend On-arrival and Mid-term training organized by the National Agency and at the end of the service gains the Youthpass.

Wie zoeken we?

We are looking for adventurous nature lovers with an active and independent approach. Interest in the field should manifest through the ability to learn faster, being flexible and assertive because of the dynamic nature of the job. Except English, the knowledge of the languages -Russian/Spanish/Italian- is an advantage. Education/experience in some of the mentioned activities is much valued. You can improve in professions: botanist, conservationist, geo information system specialist, mycologist, bryologist. Sometimes activities may require overtime that is compensated by day-off the next day.
