Merhamet is a 33-year-old organization committed to assisting people in need. Our work is divided into providing humanitarian assistance and socio-economic empowerment to vulnerable groups. During your volunteering experience, you will take part in these tasks: 1) Engaging and building relationships with the community, understand their needs and challenges, and design programs that address those needs; 2) Plan and facilitate activities supporting the advancement of youth and families 3) Providing support and guidance to youth and families 4) Conducting outreach, strategizing to identify families who may benefit from available services and encourage them to participate in our programs 5) Providing administrative support. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will be provided with a lockable and safe place, with bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. It will be in the city center near the office premises. You might share the place with another volunteer. You will be given a monthly allowance, covering your daily expenses, meals, local transportation, communication, and other living necessities. The apartment will be near the marketplaces too. Public transport is not commonly used but you can use bicycles, go on foot, or even use public electric scooters.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will attend a pre-departure training to prepare for the opportunity, as well as an on-arrival training which will introduce the participants to the host country. Apart of mandatory Code of Conduct orientation and Safeguarding Children and vulnerable adults training, Merhamet can provide training on the Project cycle management to enable better understanding of programming and conducting activities. Volunteers will be offered the opportunity to participate in other Merhamet’s capacity building activities, as feasible.

Participant profile

The volunteer should be culturally adaptive in humanitarian and social development settings, hold a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or humanities, and have at least one year of experience working with children/vulnerable groups. Commitment to supporting vulnerable populations is highly valued. Strong time management, proactivity, and teamwork are essential. We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds and abilities to apply. Due to the nature of the work, successful candidate must undergo a health examination and provide us with their criminal record, expenses will be reimbursed.
