Progetto Giovani is looking for a team of 10 volunteers, both local and international youngsters, interested in the social field to explore the concept of disability and inclusion through different activities in the city of Padova. Volunteers will support the implementation of the office activities, e.g., linguistic workshops, by adapting them with an inclusive lens; map the accessibility of some of the most important cultural centres in the city and get to know and collaborate with local partner associations that work with people with disabilities. This includes providing support for the recreational activities offered by several centres, conducted and supervised by dedicated staff and educators, including workshops on painting, music therapy, handicrafts and adapted motor skills. Moreover, they will develop their own personal project for the dissemination of these activities and the promotion of social inclusion to the local youngsters and citizens.
Alloggio, vitto e trasporto
Volunteers will be hosted at OPSA, a residential complex 5km away from Padova’s city centre (in the nearby city of Rubano), set in a large park that accommodates adults with severe intellectual disability and includes social and sanitary structures, training and religious rooms, canteen. They will share bedrooms with a private bathroom (2-4 people) in their own hall, which includes a common area. Meals will be provided by the organisation, either by the canteen or as a packed lunch for outdoor activities. Volunteers will be given local transportation tickets and pocket money (6€/day).
Formazione durante l'attività
Volunteers will explore methods of non-formal learning to implement workshops, receive ongoing support throughout their volunteering experience, and participate in training sessions covering topics such as volunteering, the concept of disability inclusion, and its various cultural implications and limits and opportunities. For in-field experiences, volunteers will be provided guidance and support in small groups from professional staff working with people with disabilities on the preparation of activities and interaction.
Profilo del partecipante
Volunteers are interested in the topic of social inclusion and responsible, respectful, eager to help and learn, good listeners, proactive and creative. Artistic talents (music, drawing, multimedia) are appreciated. They possess emotional maturity to navigate challenging situations. Basic proficiency in Italian and prior studies/experience in the social sector (volunteer, educator) are recommended. The accessible and barrier-free hosting structure with available qualified staff ensures an inclusive and supportive environment for all participants, including people with disabilities.
