Human rights in action: transforming spaces, inspiring minds
Bildungsnetzwerk Magdeburg gGmbH
Magdeburg, Germany
Description
Join the ESC Team at the European Youth Education Centre (EJBM) and help create a vibrant hub for human rights and democracy education! As part of a diverse international team, you’ll work on visual projects, workshops, and discussions to promote human rights among young people. We are looking for people who are passionate about Europe, human rights, and hands-on work. The European Youth Education Centre (EJBM) will be the 14th centre in Europe with the Quality Label for European Youth Centres of the Council of Europe. This ESC Team will support our efforts to make the European Youth Education Centre (EJBM) also a visual hub for human rights and democracy education in order to spread the essence of human rights and their meaning for the lifeworlds of young people.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms with generally four people (towels and sheets are provided) at the European Youth Education Centre (EJBM). Since our facilities can also be booked by outside groups, the living arrangements can be subject to change due to bookings. The volunteers will be provided with food to prepare meals with the group (unless meals are provided by the organisation), as well as 6€ pocket money per day. Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to fixed rates based on the distance traveled, as per the regulations laid down in the Erasmus+ programme.
Training during the activity
We will produce and attach visualisations, make our facilities more accessible to international groups, and dive into the topic of human rights via discussions, workshops, and other interactive methods. As a highlight, you will be part of the official award ceremony with guests from all over Europe.
Participant profile
We are looking for enthusiastic young people who are eager to live and work in a team of 15–20 people from different countries. If you have experience with one of the tasks mentioned before – that's great. But it is even more important that you are willing to learn and try new things. Further, it is preferable if you are open-minded, flexible, have a problem-solving attitude, and can work well in teams. Knowledge of English and German is an asset.
