Join us at the Othona Community! The Othona Community is a residential community centre for people of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds to find common understanding and to help develop peace. It is in a beautiful, remote part of the English countryside, next to the sea in the region of Essex. The community hosts visitors and groups, as well as events and activities on the topics of food, ecology, music, spirituality and more. As a volunteer you can engage in:- Cooking in the kitchen and learning new dishes with the community. Gardening outside and learning about the energy and food systems. Helping in the office with administration and social media. Preparing and looking after the guestrooms, ensuring that all the accommodation areas are clean and safe. Interacting with visitors and participating in activities. Being a part of the community, sharing food, conversation and services in the chapel. Alloggio, vitto e trasporto

You will stay at the Othona Community in the main building with the other staff and volunteers. You will have your own personal room with Wifi and either an individual or shared bathroom. Food will be healthy, home-made and will include both meat and vegetarian dishes. It is in the countryside, with flat nature, open sea and huge skies. It is a place of peace and quiet, so it is ideal for reflection and creative activities. The village of Bradwell, with two pubs and one community shop is a 30 minutes walk from the centre. There is a local bus service. The train station is in the next town.

Formazione durante l'attività

We want to empower you by giving you opportunities to learn new skills and try new things. We will train you throughout the programme about informal learning and intercultural communication. We will help you to design an individual learning plan with your goals of what you want to achieve on the project. We will support you and help you to achieve these goals. This will be a very good opportunity to develop your skills and confidence in the English language, because you will be communicating with native speakers every day.

At the Othona Community you can explore and develop your skills in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. We are looking for volunteers who are motivated, curious and flexible. We are looking for volunteers who would like to spend time in a quiet area in the beautiful countryside. We want you!
