Comuity project in Buntes Haus for a German speaking volunteer

Wat houdt de activiteit in?

Opened ten years ago, the Multigenerational Family Centre “Buntes Haus” is a project placed in the heart of Hellersdorf. Placed in one of the neighbourhoods with most cultural diversity and social difficulties in Berlin, we fight for the social inclusion of children, families and the elderly. For this at least basic level of German is necessary. Our centre is open to everybody from midday until five o’clock, offering leisure and educational space to neighbours of all ages. The volunteer will support the work of our pedagogic staff, its projects and also public events. Helping to implement activities with children, youngsters, parents and other users. Your task may vary depending on the day: playing with children, joining the elderly in their activities, helping on logistics and material creation, etc. You will be able to apply your best interests and abilities into our projects or create one on your own. Regelingen voor accommodatie, eten, en vervoer

We provide an apartment very close to the project. You will have your own bedroom and shared common spaces with other volunteers. It will be provided with the equipment for comfortable living such as a complete kitchen, full bedroom and home furniture, central heating and Wi-Fi. For meal during work, you will have the opportunity to cook in the kitchen office as well. A monthly grant of money about 470€ will be given (including food, transportation (monthly ticket for public transport in the city) and pocket money). You will have an option to use a bike as well.

Wat leer je?

You will be offered annual access to the Online Linguistic Support platform to improve your German skills. An option to attend to language school course may be offered during the year. You will participate in an On-arrival and Mid-term training seminar, organised by the German National Agency. Also, we will offer you continuous support during the volunteer year, with meetings with your mentor. Also, the staff of the project will be extra support and will guide you more specifically throughout the daily activities.

Wie zoeken we?

We are looking for one volunteer motivated and with initiative, flexible, communicative, who has the ability to work in the team but also independently, willing to learn and come up with new ideas. The volunteer should be a person with social skills, interested in working with children, youth and adults in social exclusion. Interests in creative fields will be much appreciated. The participant will share the apartment with other volunteers, so should be opened to share and cohabitate with different cultures. Due to the profile of the users of this project, basic German skills are necessary.
