City Public Library in Gdynia

Description de l’activité

City Public Library in Gdynia promotes literacy and cultural activities among all members of the local society in different districts of the city. The aim of the library is to meet cultural needs of the society and to promote reading in various ways. As lately the libraries may be the only cultural centre in some of the districts of the city it has a second role as well – to promote cultural activities and enable all members of local society to participate in them. Volunteers will work with the local community in one branch of the City Public Library in Gdynia, helping the librarians with typical librarian tasks and supporting the organization of cultural activities. We are searching for a volunteer who would join the branch of Biblioteka Śródmieście (the Downtown Library) in the centre of Gdynia.This Library is a modern solution - both when it comes to space, technological proposals and opportunities for spending free time.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Volunteer will be provided: - with the pocket money, - accommodation in a room with a maximum number of 3 inhabitants, in one of the rented flats, - with monthly ticket for buses in Gdynia.

Formation pendant l’activité

Volunteer is obliged to attend On-arrival Training and Mid-term Training organized by National Agency as well as trainings provided by the supporting organization.

Profil du participant

The offer and activities of this branch is directed to young adults .The mission of this library is not only to promote literacy but as well to give space to adults for self development and confronting their point of view with others during educational meetings, workshops and various trainings given by professionals from the city. We are looking for a volunteer who will be communicative and open for new experiences & cultures, creative and inventive. It is welcome if the volunteer has basic English language skills and is willing to study Polish; interested in methods of active education.
