Activity description

*PLEASE apply by writing an E-Mail to susanne.sparr@aha.or.at !!* As a volunteer, you will assist us in our work in the youth centers and will also participate in our mobile youth work programme - a kind of streetwork. Another part of the job are different projects with focus on sports, education, creativity and culture topics. You will also be able to make your own projects, bringing in your own talents. It is also possible to attend trainings and workshops regarding youth work where you can refine skills in social work. In the first line you will support the following work areas: - working in the youth cafe, - working behind the bar, - playing games with the youngsters, communicating and giving advice, - street work (meeting young people in the streets and local hang-out places, talking to them, informing them about our center and our work), - helping with organizing our various activities and activities More information on our organisation: www.ojah.at

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

As a volunteer, you will live in a student housing where also other residents with different backgrounds live. You will have a room with bathroom on your own and share a kitchen with the other residents. You will receive your food- and pocket money always in the beginning of the month. The infrastructure with trains and buses is easy, quick and frequent. Also you will have a bicycle at your disposal and you will receive a ticket for free use of any public transport in the whole region of Vorarlberg during the complete project time.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will have following trainings and opportunities: - On-arrival Training; organised by the NA Austria - Midterm-Meeting; organised by the NA Austria - German course; organised by the supporting/coordinating organisation - Regular evaluation meetings together with the supporting/coordinating organisation - Regular meetings with your mentor in the hosting organisation

Participant profile

We would like to invite people who enjoy and love to work with youngsters. Also you should have fun to help in outdoor and sports activities or in our workshops. You should be open minded and interested in getting to know our organisation and work. Our work is sometimes very easy. Still, the volunteer should realize that it means work. Interest in social work, young people and youth culture and understanding to have other working hours as other jobs is very important! As the target group in our youth centres is between 10 and 20 years, we would prefer a person who is least 20 years old.
