Activity description

The ESC "Discover the Caucasus" involves a volunteer from Germany in the local grass-root youth organisation: Georgian Youth for Europe (GYE) in Rustavi. More information on the “Discover the Caucasus” programme at: https://eifgermany.wordpress.com/discover-the-caucasus/ The association "Georgian Youth for Europe" (GYE) is non-governmental organisation (NGO) which is providing non-formal education for local children and youth. The mission of Georgian Youth for Europe is to empower youth to achieve their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual potential both as individuals and as responsible citizens. GYE offers multiple programmes for this end, for instance through peer-education, workshops, training, arts & creative activities, healthy lifestyles training, human rights education, active citizenship activities, raising environmental awareness, etc.

Ordninger for innkvartering, mat og transport

The programme provides following: Accommodation (together with up to 4 European volunteers in a shared furnished flat), next to the office of Georgian Youth for Europe; Monthly food allowance based on local standards for self-catering; International insurance; Language support in Georgian; Pocket money: 3 EUR/ day paid on a monthly basis; International travel costs home-project-home. The volunteers will organise activities about 35 hours a week and are entitled to 2 days off per worked months and local national holidays. Working days are generally Monday to Friday with weekends off.

Training during the activity

- Preparation with various digital meetings/ workshops wit other ESC volunteers prior to departure - On-Arrival Training in Georgia provided by SALTO-EECA - Mid-Term Meeting in Georgia provided by SALTO-EECA (if stay longer than 6 months) - Evaluation, debriefing and supporting upon return in Germany - On-the-job training and coaching during the stay in Georgia - Opportunity to participate in the large-scale ComeBack Event in Germany after return

Participant profile

We are looking for highly motivated and committed volunteers for implementing activities in a different cultural and social context with and for children and youth. Eligible candidates are 18 to 29 years old and with current residence in Germany (independently of nationality). Prior experience organising activities with and for youth is welcome but not compulsory.
