Activity description
The Municipal Children's and Youth Centre of Riga is a short-term and long-term institution for social care and social rehabilitation, which provides housing, full care and social rehabilitation for orphans and children left without parental care from 0 to 18 years of age, in crisis as well as provide social and informative support for children at social risk groups. The goal of the youth house is to promote the development of a stable and comprehensive personal development of young people, self-directed youth, continuous participation in the education process and integration into the labour market.Training during the activity
During the project volunteers will be involved in daily life of the Centre by supporting youngsters and the organisation's staff in dealing with everyday situations, homework and organising various activities for the youngsters, for example, creative workshops, sports activities, foreign language and discussion clubs, national culture and food cooking evenings and other individual volunteer’s initiatives.Participant profile
We would prefer you to be interested and ready to work with youngsters with fewer opportunities (orphans and children left without parental care). Having a previous experience in youth work and basic knowledge of Russian language (at least conversational level) will be considered as a plus. The working language will be English, Russian (at least conversational level).
