Wat houdt de activiteit in?

Through this long-term project, a volunteer will contribute to the projects of the org. Mládež ulice which works with and strengthens a local community including youngsters (10-20 years old). A volunteer will prepare and implement various free time activities for children and youth from socially disadvantaged environments. He/she will engage in managing small events, helping with daily running of the center and doing streetwork in the neighborhood called Rača. A participant will dive into improving data presentation skills (graphics/statistics) to help with events and activities, provide support to the English lecturer for youth and employees, involve in tasks for the organization's projects based on own strengths or preferences, participate in designing new projects, while being supported to work on personal project ideally related to youth work and the work of Mládež ulice. Regelingen voor accommodatie, eten, en vervoer

Bratislavské dobrovoľnícke centrum (as hosting and coordinating organization) will provide an adequate place to live - a room furnished with basic equipment in a shared flat or house together with other ESC volunteers. BDC is responsible and provides a volunteer with pocket money, covering food, local transport costs and travel arrangements to and from Bratislava, according to the standard of living in the hosting country.

Wat leer je?

BDC will take care of the Orientation training upon arrival and provides additional trainings to improve soft skills and active citizenship skills on a regular basis, and also organizes a mandatory supervision meetings so a participant can reflect upon own experience with a professional. Mládež ulice provides introductory training directly related to the skills necessary to do a particular job. Further, a volunteer is obliged to attend On-arrival and Mid-term training organized by the National Agency and at the end of the project gains the Youthpass certificate.

Wie zoeken we?

In this project, we are looking for someone who likes to work with children and youth. A volunteer has to be flexible (to handle activities in accordance to the actual circumstances in the center), responsible and creative (eager to support personal and professional growth of clients), communicative and empathetic (able to talk to strangers), and thinking out of the box to be prepared for unexpected experiences. Ideally a participant is at least 22 years old. Training in humanitarian discipline is an advantage, but not a must. Activities take place in the afternoon and include streetwork.
