Activity description

“Building Resilience through Social Teamwork" is an ESC team volunteering project for 15 international participants in the activities of natural building, regenerative farming, community living, solidarity, team building and event planning. We aim to provide the participants with theoretical and practical tools by introducing ecological regenerative actions in everyday life, in the small habits that in the long term create a great change. Our goal is to leave lasting imprints on communities by educating people in building and farming in ways that are beneficial for both themselves and the ecosystem. This project is a unique opportunity to combine climate-conscious action with the development of team spirit and learning to work in groups. The volunteers will become familiar with all the tools and techniques necessary to achieve self-sufficiency, increase their employability, and make an impact within their communities. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

During your stay you will be sleeping in tents inside the COB’s almond grove. It is necessary to bring your own tent and sleeping material to be comfortably sleeping outdoors. Compost toilets and outdoor showers with hot water will serve our needs. Also please bring plant based fully biodegradable toiletry (shampoo, soaps, toothpaste, mosquito repellents..). The farm provides us with a big kitchen to cook our daily meals, which are healthy and vegan. The farm is off-grid, energy supplied by a solar panel system, so electricity is limited. Transportation is done by cars, bikes and local buses.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will experience first-hand what sustains a low-footprint eco-community (infrastructure, inputs and outputs, daily chores & direct democratic procedures) while working closely with the underprivileged local community, living a direct experience of solidarity and active citizenship. They will experience what cooperation among different people can truly achieve in a short amount of time & with limited resources. They will train in natural building techniques, regenerative farming practices, community living & cooperation, team building, solidarity actions, event planning & management.

Participant profile

We are looking for participants with innate enthusiasm and desire to learn. We choose volunteers based on their attitude and demonstrated interest in the project’s objectives and sustainable-community living. The volunteers are expected to: - be open, friendly, respectful, motivated and willing to integrate; - share community, mixed housing and live a simple life; - work independently & as part of a team; - learn other languages, exchange skills & knowledge; - learn about low-impact life and alternative technology; - follow daily & weekly routines - actively participate in all activities.
