English: practice with non-formal methods

Activity description

A long term volunteering placement at "Centre de Réadaptation de Mulhouse" (CRM). CRM is the biggest Centre in France specialised in health and vocational rehabilitation of adults with physical health problems. It has 3 main activities : Medical/paramedical care, Vocational training, Social and Cultural activities. With the help of the permanent staff members and the local volunteers, the ECS volunteers will perform their tasks within the "Social and Cultural Life" department. They will be assigned the following tasks: - To organise workshops for the practice of the English language using non-formal education methods; - To organise games, film sessions followed by debates and any other activities that would promote the practice of the English language; - To take part in the excursions and other leisure outings; - A time to learn the French language and work on personal projects will be included in volunteers' weekly schedule; - Personal initiatives will be encouraged.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will be hosted in individual large rooms with private bathroom situated in the CRM. Food : They can have their meals (3 meals a day) in the restaurant of the Centre. An additional allowance of 30€ will be given to the volunteers to cover other food expenses. They will receive an allowance of 180 € per month as pocket money. They will receive a monthly user card for the public transport.

Participant profile

Young men and women aged between 22 and 28 and living in a member country of the European Solidarity Corps program. Applicants must have at least a B2 level in English and B1 level in French (speaking). They must be friendly, caring and with a certain sense of communication.
