Development Support for Transylvania: Volume 5

Activity description

We, the Youth Association from Transylvania - an NGO from Cristuru Secuiesc, ROMANIA - have until now hosted 50 EVS volunteers who did successful long term and short term EVS projects with us. Now we are looking for volunteers from Estonia, Hungary, Portugal and Slovenia. Activities are planned in FLOWS: - 9 volunteers from the 7 countries, started on September 1st 2017, for 6 months. - 9 volunteers from the 7 countries, started on April 1st 2018, lasts 6 months. - 8 volunteers from the 7 countries, starts on October 1st 2018, for 6 months. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will be housed in a rented house in the city center which has 6 bedrooms that have 1, 2 and 3 beds in each. The house has: - kitchen with 2 fridges, stove, microwave, dishes, glasses, furniture, etc. - 5 bathrooms with toilets, showers, washing machines and cleaning appliances - bedrooms with furniture, beds and Wi-Fi connection - living room and workrooms for some of the activities - it is part of a small youth center and office of the NGO For meals volunteers receive a monthly allowance of 120 Euros for meals, to buy and cook their own food + 60 Euros pocket money.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will get Pre Departure Training and On Arrival Training as in all EVS projects lasting 6 months. They will also be trained and prepared for the more technical parts of their activities, like for the online radio, for astronomy, for working with children, people with disabilities, herbs, or areas they chose. The working language in the city and in the greater region is Hungarian, so the main focus will be put on learning this language first and after that Romanian which will be needed in trainings, evaluation meetings and free time touristic activities in Romania.

Participant profile

The Youth Association from Transylvania is looking for any youth aged 17 to 30 who is serious and motivated to come to a small city and support us in the development of a community with a lot of potential. We do not require volunteers to have any pre-determined skill sets or aptitudes in order to carry out the activity, only an inquisitive demeanor and an openness to learn new things which may be needed for the activity. We do not require participants to have advanced English speaking skills, only basic English level. We are looking for energetic, creative open minded and independent youth.
