EU.Motion 20.23 - Community Facilitator

Activity description

EU.Motion 20.23 is a project from Associação Mais Cidadania, that aims to address two specific problems: 1) The low participation rates of young people in decision-making processes; 2) And, cultural integration and social exclusion. For that, the project will develop activities connected with Citizenship, Participation, and Cultural Diversity. Having that in mind, we are looking for 1 person for 10 months to join our Youth Center, +Skillz. This person will have to take part in the day-by-day of the Organization/Youth Center and actively be part of all activities and dimensions of AMC’s work; support all the activities developed in the Youth Center; propose, plan, and implement activities for youngsters - in the Youth Center and for local volunteering actions - according to your interests and experience under the methodology of non-formal education; among other tasks. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

As established by the European Solidarity Corps, all volunteers have the right to accommodation, pocket money and food allowance, as well transportation. Therefore, the Association will provide accommodation to the person chosen for the project in a house/apartment shared with other volunteers/interns/students. At the beginning of each month, the volunteer will receive the pocket money in cash and, 5 to 7 days later, the food allowance. Besides this, will acquire too, a monthly pass allowing him/her to use all the public means of transportation (metro, elevator, tramway and bus).

Training during the activity

The volunteer will take part into all activities foreseen in the Volunteering Training and Evaluation Cycle in the Hosting Country and, in the Volunteering meetings proposed by the Sending Organisation and/or National Agencies.

Participant profile

The volunteer should be someone: - Energetic who enjoys direct contact with children and young people; - With proactivity to think and implementing educational activities for our audience; - A team player, who respects and preserves the common space; - Able to communicate and work in English (at first) and interested in learning Portuguese; - Interested to live and work in a multicultural and cooperative environment; - Flexible enough to adapt to changes, because social work with children brings daily challenges that can impact planned activities; - Accessible, available to learn;
