Youth house ("MJ") of Marche en Famenne

Activity description

La Maison des Jeunes (MJ) / the Youth House is an association financed by the French Community of Belgium. We work in Marche-en-Famenne, a 17.000 inhabitants’ town which is located in the south of the country. Our mission is to promote youth active citizenship, participation and empowerment. In all our activities (trainings, creative and artistic workshops, outdoor activities and visits, organization of concerts and cultural events) we strive to work based on a “pedagogy of the project." Through negotiation, preparation, implementation and evaluation of activities, we hope to encourage young people to acquire new skills and support them in developing themselves as persons and citizens. The volunteer will have the possibility to participate in all our artistic activities, visits out, concerts,...S/he can offer a personal, creative, sportive activity to implement with the youngsters and his/her role will be also to welcome, spend time with the teenagers after school.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

They will have their own room and will share the common spaces with other 6 ESC volunteers involved in other ESC projects in Marche-en-Famenne. The house is located within a short foot distance of the "Maison des Jeunes". Food: the volunteer will receive a budget and will take care of the meals by themself. Participation in the European Solidarity Corps is free of charge for the participant, except for exceptional contribution to travel costs. Freeboard and lodging + pocket money.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will have an on-arrival and a mid-term seminar organized by the French-speaking National Agency of Belgium.
