The application deadline has passed.

Activity description

The short time project "ART & NATURE" is the perfect opportunity for people who care about the environment and enjoy working with nature. Be a part of a team full of creative, young people and make new friends. You will work with people from Poland and abroad, so you will develop your language skills and broaden your knowledge about different cultures. Enjoy the beautiful springtime in the region of Białowieza Forest - last old-growth forest in Europe. For 53 days join us to maintain our agroforestry vegetable garden at the Central Hajnówka - Station of Culture. No prior gardening experience needed, you will learn all the essentials here! If you prefer different activities don’t worry, we have a lot to propose. You can join our volunteer social media team, prepare and take part in creative workshops and participate in theatre events. And if you have any ideas about projects you would like to start here tell us and we will make them into reality together!

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

We will provide the volunteers all their costs: one way tickets, money for food and pocket money. We also provide accommodation - volunteers will live in a hostel created in a former train station building with other volunteers in shared rooms (2-3 volunteers in a room). This place is located in Hajnówka town in Podlasie, a unique region in eastern Poland with a rich history and traditions, surrounded by beautiful Białowieza forest.

Training during the activity

Volunteers don’t need any prior experience in gardening, we will teach them all basics needed for work. You will learn how to plan and beautify garden space, prepare for planting season, harvest the most common vegetables. You will also prepare and take part in eco workshops and help us to breathe the artistic spirit into our new cultural, educational and artistic centre.

Participant profile

As a part of the European Solidarity Corps we accept volunteers who are from 18 to 30 years old. You don't need to have any knowledge about agriculture or gardening. What counts is willingness to work, openness and a good attitude. We work together and support each other - we make a team. Be a part of it. You are welcome :)
