Description
We are looking for a short-term volunteer to support activities of the organization Society to help people with autism. SPOZA organizes a summer camp on annual basis for children and youth with autism and their families. Its purpose is to provide them with new friendships and community networking. It also aims children's development of motor skills through different activities prepared by volunteers with a focus on art and music. A volunteer will learn about autism before and during the camp, improve his/her communication and management skills, he/she will create new friendships and experience beautiful Slovak region Malá Fatra. The volunteer will support organization and help with preparation of the camp in Bratislava office. At the end of July, a volunteer will be part of the camp. First week, there will be teambuilding activities with other volunteers and camp program preparations going on. The second week, the camp program will be organized.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Bratislavské dobrovoľnícke centrum (as coordinating organization) will provide an adequate place to live - a room furnished with basic equipment in a shared flat or house together with other ESC volunteers. BDC is responsible and provides a volunteer with pocket money covering food, local transport costs and travel arrangements to and from Bratislava within a standard of living in the hosting country.
Training during the activity
BDC will take care of the Orientation training upon arrival. SPOZA provides introductory training directly related to the skills necessary to do a particular job. Further, a volunteer will also participate in BDC’s events and will be encouraged to organize a public workshop on the topic of own choice. At the end of the project a volunteer gains the Youthpass certificate.
Participant profile
A participant should be creative and proactive, bringing new ideas for activities, empathetic and communicative. We look for a participant who enjoys company and is a friendly team-player. One of the most important qualities required from the participant is responsibility, reliability, ability to plan her/his own schedule and to follow that schedule during the camp. Since the organization works with people with disability and in a diversified team, having respect and understanding for others is necessary.
