Activity description

Are you passionate about volunteering and gender equality? Do you want to be part of a project that supports gender issues in humanitarian aid after COVID crisis? Youth4HA aims to promote the participation of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, in solidarity actions that enhance gender mainstreaming and feminist principles in post-Covid humanitarian context. You will collaborate with young volunteers ( 18-35 years old) for 8 months.You will get the opportunity to enhance your understanding of active citizenship, gain social, civil and cultural skills, boost your professional skills and help create more inclusive procedures for volunteers. Prior to this application, a mandatory online & onsite training is required to be passed ( further details are available, once you create your account and apply for the HAV Projects).The interview will be held in Spanish.People with fewer opportunities (e.g.Refugees, Roma, LGBTQI+, People with disabilities) are encouraged to apply.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will be staying in Santander de Quilichao in a house with other volunteers. Flights to and from Colombia, local travel, vaccinations/medical checks and insurance will be provided. In addition, you will receive a monthly subsistence lump sum of €570 per month as pocket money.

Training during the activity

ActionAid Hellas will deliver a pre-departure training to all volunteers which will address logistical arrangements and matters relating to safeguarding, safety and security, AAH/Alianza´s principles. Alianza Colombia will deliver on-arrival training for volunteers and appoint a volunteer mentor to oversee the induction, cultural integration, accommodation, and the provision of a safe and healthy living/working environment. Participant profile

The volunteer must be - aged 18-35 and an EU citizen/third country national who is a long-term resident in an EU member state - committed to ActionAid values and principles of volunteerism - able to work in a multicultural environment and uphold diversity standards - culturally sensitive & aware. Spoken and written knowledge of Spanish is mandatory. i) Support in the preparation of project budgets, ii) Monitoring and updating of budget execution ( invoices, contracts), iii) Preparation of financial reports, iv) Support audits, v) Effective budget control
