Activity description

"Kabutze" is an open sewing studio in Greifswald, Germany, a small city near the Polish-German border and at the Baltic Sea. The project offers practical sewing and upcycling activities and aims to educate the public about global (in)justice connected with fashion, e.g. with street-events, workshops, film screenings and other activities. In this email you should explain your motivation for the project in detail. We do not accept applications with pictures or videos. Your motivation text should include answers to the following questions: Why do you want to spend one year as a volunteer at Kabutze? What do you hope / expect to learn? What do you think you will contribute to the project? What is your previous experience with (fair trade) fashion and global injustice? How do you imagine living in Greifswald?

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation is in a shared flat with other international volunteers. You will have your own room. You will receive food money each month. Most likely you will rent a bicycle for local transport in Greifswald. Buses are available, too.

Training during the activity

Officials ESC training: 7 days "on arrival" and 5 days "midterm evaluation" with other international volunteers. In addition: international seminars in a group with other local volunteers: 4 weeks + individual days. Participant profile
