Activity description
Our organisation main activity is the temporary accommodation of refugees. Our goal is to offer housing to people who have recently come to Germany for a limited duration until they find suiting residential opportunities. Furthermore, we provide social services, offering them help for the sectors of housing, communication/translation, healthcare, applications of any kind, processing of inquiries of governmental agencies and many more. The most valued priority of our work is to help our clients help themselves. The focus for our volunteers will be set on the field of the social work our employees engage in. At first in a more observing role, later becoming more and more active themselves. The various tasks will be assistance with counselling, leisure-time activity planning, daily life organisation and many more. For the means of transportation you will be provided with the 49€-Ticket, which allows you to travel on all trams, busses and regional trains in Germany. Your accomodation will be in a single appartment in a residential community in the east of Leipzig. The appartment has a kitchen, so you can make your meals at home. All further details will be discussed in our introductory conversation.Participant profile
We do not ask for any work experience or specific skills. You should be open-minded, have a passion for helping others and like working in a team. You will interact a lot with our employees and residents in your day to day work-life, so communication is key. In order to do so, you need to be fluent in either English or German. Any other language skills are helpful, but not required.Activity dates
