Activity description

We are looking for volunteers between 18 and 30 years old who are interested in working with children and youth to support our organization in the Ottopia Summer Camps during the summer 2023. The volunteers should speak English proficiently and ideally have already worked with children. Based on the pedagogical concept of the European Children's City, the OTTOPIA Summer Seminar offers children from 8 to 14 years the opportunity to discover international flair here in Magdeburg. With visiting groups of children from other European countries, English, French, Spanish and other languages are learned along the way. The program includes creative workshops, excursions, the planning of the Children's City 2024 and many other opportunities to try things out and discover your own abilities. The tasks of the volunteers will be to organize and facilitate workshops and activities for the children, as well as to offer foreign language lessons.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms (towels and sheets are provided) at the European Youth Educational Centre Magdeburg. They will receive money to prepare meals with the group as well as 6€ pocket money per day. Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to fixed rates according to the distance traveled (10-99km: 20€/person; 100-499km: 180,00€/person; 500-1,999 km: 275,00€/person; 2,000-2,999 km: 360,00€/person; the lump sum will be payed once for both ways traveled). Please note that we only consider applications that reach us through this portal.

Participant profile

We are looking for people who can identify with at least one of the following: creativity, dedication, open mind, eagerness, curiosity, leadership, team-player, confidence, problem solving, confidence, initiative, adaptability. We are looking for someone who is outgoing and willing to enjoy a month living closely with people from all around Europe and likes an international environment and be happy to represent your country/region. It will be the responsibility of the volunteer to develop and facilitate activities in the program of Ottopia Summercamp.
