Activity description
Samtökin '78 - The National Queer Organisation of Iceland, founded in 1978 - is an organisation for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people, their families, friends and supporters. The organisation aims at ensuring lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people visibility and recognition and that they enjoy equal rights to other members of society. The volunteer will participate in the daily activities at Samtökin ´78. They will assist the organisation ́s staff in everyday tasks of the office, and will get the chance to help coordinate one of Samtökin78´s many activities/events (that have English as their main working language), for example: - Meet and greet clients who come in - Assist with events organising - Assist in the officeAccommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation, food and transport is all organised by AUS ICYE Iceland. The volunteer will live in a house with 7 other ESC volunteers, with private bedroom and shared kitchen, bathroom and living room. A bus card will be provided.Training during the activity
On arrival and mid term training are compulsory. A separate on arrival introduction and training will be organised by AUS ICYE. Training on the job will be provided by Samtökin78.Participant profile
