Support to the Flagship Climate project (Brussels)

Activity description

The flagship climate project addresses an essential citizen issue, and the Citizen Service Network wishes to be part of a solidarity-based approach by raising awareness among young people and enabling them to take part in concrete actions in favour of the environment. The aim is to expand the range of environmental volunteer missions and to develop training on several themes related to the climate issue for the youngsters involved in our Citizen Service project. According to your profile and desires, you will be able to carry out different tasks, supporting the Climate Project Officer in order to: - Increase the number of volunteer projects - Develop a pedagogical framework with specific training, motivating young people and raising awareness of climate change challenges - Organise networking with different partners and various stakeholders; - Draft projects to obtain subsidies, mainly from the public sector. - Support the coordination of training courses

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will share a flat with others volunteers in Brussels. The flat is located 20 minutes away (by bus) from the Citizen Service Network headquarters. The Citizen Service Network is located in the European headquarters, near the main European Institutions. You will receive a STIB mobility card (for buses/metro and tram) and a monthly allowance (for food and pocket money). In the workplace, you will be provided with all the necessary equipment for the performance of your various activities/tasks (computer + phone)

Training during the activity

You will first receive a pre-departure training before leaving your home country. Then, once you arrive, the Belgian National Agency (BIJ) will organize an arrival and mid-term training. Aside from that, you will have the opportunity to take part in the trainings organised for the young people in Citizen Service (integration week, democracy, interculturality, European first aid certificate, non-violent communication, sustainable development, etc.). You will be accompanied by your tutor who will train you during your volunteer period.

Participant profile

We are looking for someone who is open-minded (interested in meeting young people from all backgrounds and social backgrounds), interested in exploring and deepening the themes of climate change, eco-citizenship at local and European level, interested in sharing his ideas and culture with other volunteers and able to work independently and as a team. The main language, especially with our target groups is French, so a basic/intermediate level of French is required.
