ANIMATION IN A HIGH SCHOOL

Activity description

he Lycée Agricole, located in Mauléon, SW France, is looking for volunteers who will have the opportunity to work along with the students, the teachers and the employees of the school, in order to create an intercultural environment (by organizing projects, extracurricular activities, participation to languages classes...). The Lycée Agricole (VET training in the field of agriculture mainly) has participated in European projects since 2004 including training periods abroad in Spain, Ireland and Great Britain. The volunteers will implemented linguistic activities in English or in Spanish and be involved in the preparation of the students who participate in trainings abroad and assist to the school's documentation center to furnish documentary data about Europe. They will also set up leisure time and sports activities with the students attending the boarding school (around 300 students) and participate in educational projects about health, environment and sustainable development.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will share an independent apartment in the city center of Mauléon, next to the high school. They will have the possibility to take their meals at the boarding school and also receive a monthly food budget. A car will be put at the disposal of the volunteers to drive from home to the school and to discover the surroundings.

Training during the activity

French language support will be provided within the school. The volunteers will participate in an on-arrival and a midterm training. The costs are covered.

Participant profile

The volunteers should be open and have good relationship-building skills, an interest in social and cultural activities and sports. Volunteers with an advanced level of English or Spanish will be given preference. The driving license is necessary and basic skills in French would be a plus. The volunteers should like to live in a rural area.
