Activity description

Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA) is a civil society organisation incorporated as a company limited by guarantee working, together with Mondo, with all social groups regardless of their creed, religion, gender or political orientation. The organisation is based in Northern Ghana, which is a relatively peaceful country in the West Africa subregion. The volunteer will support project team members in the design, monitoring and evaluation of project activities to help measure the outcomes of project interventions. The organisation is implementing different project interventions, each one having different tools for measuring project outcomes. Different tools are used to collect, analyse, and interpret data.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be provided with suitable accommodation with soft furnishing and facilities for cooking and well secured. The volunteer will be expected to live on their stipend provided by the sending organisation, offering a monthly allowance of 390 euros to cover basic needs and local transport. Office space with internet access will be provided for the volunteer, though this may be shared with other team members. Moving around in the city is relatively easy: there are local taxis, which can be shared or chartered; Bolt is also available, which may be good for long distance travel.

Training during the activity

Learning from project team members of experiences, project management, monitoring and evaluation. The use of data collection and management tools. The ways of life and culture of the local people could also be a good source of learning.

Participant profile

An understanding of the project cycle overview is highly desidered. The skills set required involve knowledge in the use of Office Suite, Teams, and Microsoft 365 tools kit. Experience in the use of other tools such as Kobo Collect toolbox will be helpful. On the personal side, the volunteer should be able to work with teams of diverse personalities and backgrounds including gender, religion, and political orientation. A university degree is the basic qualification required. Basic Language proficiency in English is required to communicate with team members and finding one’s way around.
