Activity description

3-6 months: Volunteer will be involved with the support and management of the center for young adults in Ioannina city. Specific tasks would include creating events for young adults, receiving of local young adults to our activities, management of the activities, offering weekly or monthly workshops/activities to local youth (depending on specific skills and interests of the volunteer, the activity could be cultural-language activity, seminars of crafts or art, seminars or activities about youth social issues and environment issues, xenophobia, LGBTQ+, etc); planning, preparing and leading small scale events related to annual celebration or awareness days, management of the Youth department's social media and assisting the department's ongoing activities. Volunteer will also work on online content creation about social issues concerning young people and about local cultural heritage, in forms of videomaking, podcasts, photography, research and article writing, exhibitions, etc.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation will be in apartment in the city center (shared bedroom with 1 or 2 other volunteers of the same gender), 10 minutes walking distance from the office. The apartment includes several bedrooms, a shared living room and a kitchen, several balconies, and two bathrooms. There are all basic appliances, wifi, and items for living. The volunteer will receive 6 Euros a day for food expenses, as well as pocket money 6 Euros a day (it will be pre-paid in the beginning of each month). If for any activity transportation will be needed, it will be pre-paid or done by our staff members.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will be trained and guided to follow the organisation's Code of Conduct and specific rules of their work field. During the integration days, volunteers will receive training and/or information about safety, protection and security, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse and non-formal education in the context of young adults. Basic training and support in videomaking and other digital skills will be available. In addition, the volunteer will take part in weekly and monthly meetings, where their work will be monitored and supported.

Participant profile

We are looking for applicants aged 22-30, fluent in English, independent, eager to regularly propose and initiate activities, work in an international team, be responsible and comply with our rules and regulations with a very high sense of responsibility, creative and flexible, able to lead activities for groups of young adults. Experience in leading informal and non-formal education activities and work with young adults, having ideas of workshops for young adults, experience in video making and other type of content creation will be considered as a strong asset for the applicants.
