Youth 4 Change

Activity description

Youth 4 Change will host 6 volunteers for a period of 11 months. The volunteers will be able to work with the youth community and the seniors. We will change the activities according to the volunteers needs, some of the activities we did on the past were: working on our solidarity market and solidarity store; volunteering at a foster house; at our senior university helping with painting classes, music and pilates; work on a social center with both the senior residents and the kids. Our volunteers also worked on a kennel and on a zoo, helping maintaing the space and at the same time making company and helping the animals. On the environmental field we also did some picking trash actions on beaches and rural spaces in need. They also went to schools and talked about their experience on volunteering and answered some doubts of the students. We aim for the participants to express their individuality and their uniqueness, supporting them all the way through.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The accomodation is a house, on the same street of where our organization is located. It is a house with a kitchen, girls berdooms, boy's bedrooms, a bathroom and a shared living room.

Training during the activity

Access to the Online Learning System of the ESC project, which would allow the volunteer to learn Portuguese during their time in Sanguedo. On arrival training, mid-term training and training near the end of the project (training provided by the NA, usually 5 days long).

B2 English level; Able to start as soon as possible; Actively engaged in volunteering activities and take on responsabilities; Willingness to be flexible with tasks; ; Openness to learning new skills; Enthusiastic and motivated to work on our project's cause; Able to work on a team and to collaborate; Interpersonal and communication skills: empathy, active listening, and be able to express themselves clearly and respectfully; Cultural sensitivity and respect; Eager to learn, grow and develop new skills, be open to feedback and motivated to continuously improve.
