Volunteer in cultural events in a youth service

Activity description

Chaligny is a city which counts 2800 persons, near Nancy. Nancy is the city of the famous Stanislas Square and a major historic, cultural and universitarian spot. Nancy is an attractive city with 50000 students from Université de Lorraine which relates to 20% of the population. Nancy is 1h to 2h from Paris, Belgium, Luxemburg and Germany (by train). His/her missions will be to exchange with French people about her/his country and participate in activities (sports, hobbies…). It will be possible to work with young people and senior people, for example: - exchange generational activities, - organize events (visit museum) - participate to our Olympic game’s activities, - eating preparation activity, - showing a demonstration of musical instruments (if you know how to play some) The volunteer will work from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The extra-school service represents 140 students from 3 schools in the city (the kids are 3 years old to 10 years-old).

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The young volunteer will eat with his/her colleagues after the school service and will take the community bus for free. As for the accomodation, it could be at the university residence or flat-sharing with another volunteer in Nancy. It remains to be decided yet. Lunches in the canteen will be paid by the town hall.

Training during the activity

At the beginning, the volunteer will participate in a training of which the subject is “the CES project” to get to know his/her obligations and rights and to exchange with other volunteers in France. For mid-training, the volunteer will participate in a training which the subject is “Professional Experiences Review and project.” He/she will learn French with a French learning association during the week (possibly during the morning before the lunch or after the eating service).

Participant profile

We are interested in a volunteer with initiatives who can share his hobbies to the kids and people around. The volunteer will be able to present his country in school classes.
