Brave and digital: making my way out in the world

Pohjola-Nordenin Nuorisoliitto

Pohjola-Nordenin Nuorisoliitto (Youth League of the Finnish Norden Association)

Helsinki, Finland

Description

The activity intends to support young people to find study and work positions in the Nordic region. The activity intends to create information about work possibilities and stories from youth that have themselves worked in the Nordic countries. The activity creates networks and map information to help young people to find support and figure out opportunities to find work abroad, with special focus on digital services. The participants are offered opportunities in event management, facilitation, and planning as well as contacting speakers and local partners for the events. The participants could also be engaged in communication tasks relating to activities and events, such as creating material for social media. If events result in written material or publications, the participant will be encouraged to compile and produce materials for these.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The place of work is centrally located in Helsinki, Finland with convenient connections to all parts of the city. Participants would be accommodated in student quarters within the metropolitan area, allowing for proximity to activities and services. Day-to-day transport costs to and from the office would be covered by the hosting organisation, in addition to coverage for meals and the daily allowance. The Youth League and its local associations arrange group activities, particularly appropriate for getting to know the local area and forming community.

Training during the activity

The Youth League regularly organises smaller and larger trainings throughout the year on various topics for its elected representatives as well as staff. The trainings are initiated by staff members or elected representatives, based on detected needs. The Youth League has educated its organisation on topics such as video production and editing, financing and social media management. Volunteers would be given a thorough introduction and when mapping the learning goals of the volunteer, needs for education and support would be mapped as well. Language course attendance is encouraged.
