Activity description
The project is initiated by CSDS, a local NGO in Vietnam whose mission is to enhance youth capacity building, social inclusion, education equalities and green life promotion. In this project, the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator (VECO) will take part and lead various activities using a non-formal education approach to address social and educational needs of today’s youth including students from poor backgrounds by enhancing young people’s sensitivity towards social and cultural differences, as well as their self-confidence and problem-solving abilities. Through volunteering activities, the VECO is facilitated to lead initiatives to help raise awareness of young people about climate change through the implementation of small and practical local acts. At the same time, opportunities are there for the VECO to engage in various activities to empower disadvantaged youth in the rural areas and support kids with disabilities especially those who are victims of Agent Orange if wished.Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The VECO is arranged to live in single rooms or twin rooms only when needed with aircon in summer time, hot water for winter shower and wifi, fan, etc. The VECO will enjoy a shared kitchen, common space and shared bathroom with others. Accommodation is located in a more quiet and no tourist area nearby Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The VECO is provided with good food 3 times/day, 6 days/week and is provided with a free monthly bus pass for work or leisure travel around the city. During the volunteer stay, the organisation has a full-fledged training and accompanying support for the VECO.Training during the activity
The LO-CA project offers training cycles to improve the digital skills and to implement small local actions (SLOCAs) on the topic of Project management, Inclusion and diversity, Environment and Climate, Human rights and Sustainable local community development All volunteers of the project will learn together and implement the SLOCAs during the deployment, with help of coordinators and local trainees, resulting in SLOCA quide. Upon arrival, the VECO will enjoy a 5 day training to help him/her smoothly and immerse in the work and life in a new country and will be offered a language course.Participant profile
