Activity description
TASK 1: Capacity Building and Project Development: Visibility Enhancement: Volunteers will develop communication strategies, create content for social media platforms, and manage website content to increase OSVSWA's visibility. TASK 2: Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR): WASH Awareness: Raise awareness on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) issues through campaigns and training, identifying and training local WASH ambassadors. TASK 3: Empowering Adolescent Girls and Women: Formation / strengthen women groups with adequate knowledge and support. Mobilisation of livelihood support and training for the tribal poor girls and women groups.Task-4 : Volunteer-Led Innovative Learning Initiatives:English Language Teaching: Volunteers can integrate fun and engaging language games, to make learning English enjoyable for students in both rural and urban areas of Odisha. Activities include also Arts and Crafts Workshops,Physical games,Environment education (Non-Formal).Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteer will stay in flat with common kitchen, living area, bathrooms, but separate bedrooms.During work-related field visits, OSVSWA will offer accommodation at the field site, where volunteers share rooms. OSVSWA will offer daily simple 3xmeals (From Monday to Friday), featuring authentic Odia cuisines, predominantly vegetarian. Volunteers can cook their meals. For volunteers engaged in fieldwork, 3x meals will be made by either the staff or the local community. OSVSWA will ensure transport for all work-related logistics and commuting needs.Training during the activity
The LO-CA project offers training cycles to improve the digital skills and to implement small local actions (SLOCAs) on the topic of Project management, Inclusion and diversity, Environment and Climate, Human rights and Sustainable local community development All volunteers of the project will learn together and implement the SLOCAs during the deployment, with help of coordinators and local trainees, resulting in SLOCA quide. Upon arrival OSVSWA provide 4-day training covering information about Odisha, OSVSWA, local customs, language training, safety protocols,etc.Participant profile
Volunteers from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about contributing to the developmental sector in Odisha, India. Ideal candidates should possess relevant experience or qualifications in areas such as community development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, or social work. Volunteers should demonstrate adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to working collaboratively with local communities. Intermediate level/ Upper-Intermediate English is required. Prior experience living or working in developing countries is preferred but not mandatory.Activity dates
