Activity description

The day care centre "Windrad" is located in the green Oberreut, in the city of Karlsruhe. The centre offers a full-day childcare for 47 children from the age of 1 to 6 and the volunteer will support the daily activities with the small toddlers, in the age 1-3 years (art activities, sports, experimental activities, role playing, building and construction). The Kita focuses on the holistic health concept according to Sebastian Kneipp. This includes a special approach to nature and to health, throughout a constant contact with the outdoor and an healthy nutrition, finding the perfect balance throughout sharing in the community Tasks of the volunteer: supporting the educators in one group of children, supporting the kitchen (breakfast and lunch), but also realizion personal ideas and activities according to personal interests. 24 days of vacation and 2 days free per week are included in the project.To know more and apply: https://www.jugendwerk-awo.de/service/esc-calls/

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will stay in a flat on the 5th floor in the city centre together with two more European volunteers. The flat has 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a basement and a common yard. You will have your own room and will need to share the other spaces with the other two volunteers. You will be provided with a card to use public transports inside and outside the city as well, so you can also visit the surroundings in your free time. Training during the activity

You will take part to two seminars of 5 and 7 days each: these consist in trainings organized by the National Agency, and allow you to meet other ESC volunteers in Germany, share your experiences, learn and talk about the main concepts of the European Solidarity Corps. The meetings take place in different cities in Germany. You also have the possibility to attend a course to become a youth leader, a language training, a first aid course, a climbing course and a life guard course. all of these offers allow you to work with kids and youngsters during your voluntary service and in the future.

Participant profile

• At least 18 years old • Interest in pedagogique work with kids in age 0-3 - please specify it in your application • Good knowledge of English (understanding, speaking, writing, reading), basic skills in German helpful but not obligatory • You have an accredited sending organization (PIC number, accreditation number, name and contacts) • Open to get to know Germany and German culture and interested to live in another country for a year.
