Activity description

The AWO Kita Bernstein is a small reality with children from 3 to 6 years old. It follows a holistic educational approach. The children are encouraged to develop their own personalities and to discover and promote their skills and talents. Through the playful handling of various topics and materials, the children are supported and encouraged in their development. The main goal is that the interests of the children are being supported by the educators and the volunteers. Tasks of the volunteer: supporting the educators in one group of children, supporting the kitchen (breakfast and lunch), but also realizion personal ideas and activities according to personal interests. 24 days of vacation and 2 days free per week are included in the project.To know more and apply: https://www.jugendwerk-awo.de/service/esc-calls/

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will be accommodated in a big house with other 6 international ESC volunteers. You will share with them kitchen, a yard, 2 bathrooms and a living room, and you will experience a beautiful community life. You will have your room, plus the house has a little guest room. The accomodation costs are covered by the project. You will receive approx. 150 € pocket money and approx. 270 € for food every month. Training during the activity

You will take part to two seminars of 5 and 7 days each: these consist in trainings organized by the National Agency, and allow you to meet other ESC volunteers in Germany, share your experiences, learn and talk about the main concepts of the European Solidarity Corps. The meetings take place in different cities in Germany. You also have the possibility to attend a course to become a youth leader, a language training, a first aid course, a climbing course and a life guard course. all of these offers allow you to work with kids and youngsters during your voluntary service and in the future.

Participant profile

• At least 18 years old • Interest in pedagogique work with kids • Good knowledge of English (understanding, speaking, writing, reading), basic skills in German helpful but not obligatory • You have an accredited sending organization (PIC number, accreditation number, name and contacts) • Open to get to know Germany and German culture and interested to live in another country for a year.
