Description

Jugendakademie Walberberg is an independent youth training center for nonformal education that welcomes especially youth groups for multi-day trainings. The house has a total of 100 beds and is well accessible via public transport from Cologne and Bonn, yet, in the middle of nature. In addition, it has a high rope course and a climbing wall on its exterior grounds. Our educational work pursues the goal of contributing to the personal development of young people. Our focus topics are social and political education, diversity-based education or education for sustainable development. We offer for example seminars for school classes and other youth groups, international youth exchanges or trainings for European volunteers. The seminars are conducted using interactive methods, such as role plays, discussions, theatre, artistic offers etc. In all our offers we try to breakdown barriers for youngsters with fewer opportunities.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Lunch is provided at the Jugendakademie for the stuff. For breakfast, dinner and weekends the volunteer will receive money for self-catering. The volunteer will live in a shared flat in Bonn. For local transportation the volunteer will be offered the “€49,- Ticket”, which allows the volunteer to travel in local and regional public transport in all of Germany.

Training during the activity

There will be close supervision and mentoring during the voluntary service. In addition the volunteer will take part in the accompanying trainings (On-Arrival Training and Mid-Term Meetining).

Participant profile

We are looking for a young person, who is able to communicate in German on a basic level or should be ready to learn German. If there are only rudimentary German skills at the beginning, at least basic language skills in English are necessary. The person should be interested in nonformal education, youth work in general and in international youth work. He*She should be ready to come by tram every day from Bonn (approx. 30 minutes). We want to give access to people from diverse backgrounds and cordially invite everybody to apply.
