EVS "Volunteer to grow"

Activity description

The main objective of the project is to give to young persons from Croatia the opportunity to develop themselves through a series of nonformal activities and through living and working in a different environment. Hosting organization Curba de Cultură focuses on teenagers and youth development. We want to create the premises for a better development of the young people and their more suited integration within their respective communities. The youth centre will be the base of operations for all projects. One volunteer from Croatia is already started her EVS volunteering adventure in Curba de cultura. ;) The activities the volunteers can organize and take part in: - Promoting nonformal learning and volunteering -Documenting activities and reporting -Managing the library within the youth centre -Organizing cinema nights -Non-formal learning activities with young people and children We are also encouraging and supporting volunteers to realize their own ideas and initiatives.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be hosted in a traditional mountain house in the community (with kitchen, bathroom, phone, access to a washing machine, ironing machine and a vacuum cleaner). The house will be shared among volunteers. Broadband wireless internet (1 Gbps) and cable TV will be available in the office/ youth centre. Monthly food allowence: equivalent of 100 EUR Monthly allowence: equivalent of 60 EUR Transportation: bicycles for transportation within the municipalities. For farther transportation they will get monthly cards for public transportation.

Training during the activity

The volunteers will receive on-line language courses. The volunteers will also receive the support of a local mentor to help integrate within the community and develop and follow his/her personal development plan during the project. In order to be able to fully respond to the tasks of the project, the volunteers will receive training in: - basic nonformal learning - feedback and communication techniques - basic event management

Participant profile

Volunteer has to be between 18 and 30 years old, from Croatia. Volunteers facing geographical (from rural areas, islands, peripheral areas...), social (discriminated based on religion, nationality, sexual orientation,etc.) or economical obstacles (low standard of living, low income, facing unemployment...) are also welcomed.
