Description
Alianza por la Solidaridad, a member of ActionAid, aims to achieve an active citizenship that fights against inequalities and for the recognition of human rights. It carries out development cooperation and citizenship projects to eradicate gender-based violence, fight for migrants' rights and for climate justice. Join us in our headquarters in Madrid! You will participate in the work being carried out in Madrid against racism and discrimination, directly supporting the person in charge of the strategy in Madrid. You will have the opportunity to support art projects to fight racism, as well as in the preparation and organization of the Anti-Racist festival to be held in March. At the end of your experience you will know different strategies to work on racism and discrimination, you will be familiar with project management and the anti-racist fight in Spain.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will have the opportunity to live together with other volunteers of different nationalities in a shared flat. The accommodation costs and utility bills will be covered by the hosting organization and free Wi-fi will be provided. You will receive a monthly pocket money for your personal expenses and food and local transport allowance each month, you will also have a health insurance (Henner).
Training during the activity
The volunteer will receive a one-day training which will cover topics such as: welcome to Alianza por la Solidaridad, welcome to the European Solidarity Corps, responsibilities of the organisations, Youthpass, Henner insurance, motivations, cultural immersion, etc. In addition, you will participate in two Spanish National Agency trainings together with other international volunteers in Spain. In case language support is needed, the volunteer will have free access to online language training (OLS) and the possibility to share language experiences and knowledge with other volunteers.
Participant profile
The volunteer should be a person motivated and eager to learn, interested in participating in the development of national and international projects, a person who can work on multiple projects simultaneously, be able to demonstrate cultural awareness and work with language barriers; be able to perform research and work independently. Very interested on social transformation and the work againist racism. A certain level of Spanish is required, as most of the work is carried out in Spanish. It will be an asset: studies in social sciences (sociology, polotical science, communication...) and previous experience in migration, anti-racism, cultual diversity, etc. If you are migrant, if you live in rural areas, have limited economic support or any other context, do not hesitate to apply/join us, this opportunity is for everyone!
