Volunteering at Youth and Children centre in Vilnius

On the 31st of January 2001 police established a unique children and youth club. The main task of this club was early prevention of drug addiction and criminality by rendering social, psychological, material help and organizing leisure time activities for children and teenagers. Open youth centre “Bazė” (Base) suggests open evenings for 14-29 years old young people on Mondays - Fridays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Through the activities of the youth centre we try to provide young people a safe space, where they can spend their leisure time with less risk of violence, drugs or harassment, having a place to use their energy in a creative and conscious direction. The main tasks of the volunteer is to make sure, together with the worker of the center, that the youth have various activities (every day till 7 pm.), learn new things, and most importantly, increase their motivation to participate, empower them.

Majutus, toitlustus, transport

The volunteer will be hosted in flat together with other volunteers in Vilnius. Each volunteer will have their own room. A monthly bus card will be provided. Volunteers will receive food and pocket money every month. Volunteer will aslo have people who will take care of him/her: mentor (personal support), project coordinator and tutor (person from hosting organization).

Koolitused tegevuse ajal

The volunteer will have an integration week organised by coordinting organisation. During the volunteery service, volunterers will also have On-Arrival and Mid Term trainings organised by National Agency. By supporting organization volunteer will also participate in pre-departure and last evaluation sessions.

Osaleja profiil

The applicants will have to be open-minded, motivated and interested in the topics of the project, such as: - Youth and non-formal education - Languages and communication - Team-working and working with people from different backgrounds - Adaptation and flexibility in order to participate in specific projects. Through doing outdoor, creative activities, communicating with youngsters, “just being” with them in non-formal space. Volunteer will learn how to make contacts and how to communicate with youngsters with fewer opportunities.
