The power of together

doing youth work at its origin

CVJM Göttingen e.V.

Göttingen, Germany

Description

Volunteers will involve their social, communicative competences. Our daily task is to be involved in After School Care group of elementary school kids (6-10), to do their homework + make their afternoons special with creative games. We give space to volunteers to bring their own ideas. Our group is divers consists of ESC volunteers and honorary volunteers from Göttingen. We are also making overnight-programs for the kids which gives the volunteers confidence and responsibilities. We also make projects where we train new honorary volunteers which are aimed to improve the leadership competences of the trainees through reflexion, team building games etc. Biggest + most entertaining projects are the season camps in which we bring our ideas all together. There is also the opportunity to help in the crèche and to learn German together with the children. For supporting all these amazing programs we need enthusiastic, creative, flexible+ cooperative people! PLEASE WRITE A PERSONAL APPLICATION!

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The YMCA has a shared flat for the volunteers. The house is located near the station and 15 minutes by bike to YMCA. Göttingen is quite a small town where you can go everywhere by bycicle. YMCA will afford the bikes for the volunteers. Lunch is eaten together with the children. For all other meals outside of work, food allowance is paid in addition to pocket money. The travel costs are reimbursed by the YMCA. HAVE A LOOK HERE: https://www.cvjm-goettingen.de/volontaere.html

Training during the activity

You will take part in the official start and half-time seminars, as well as our team meetings. You will be accompanied in coaching sessions and we will look for mentoring for you. We also want to offer you a German language course.

Participant profile

We are searching for volunteers, willing to learn German, who are ready to be flexible, creative, social and responsible. Our job is with children and young people so we need active volunteers who are really into youth work and organising events, camps, and if you have own ideas – your own projects. You should actively approach the kids with offers. You must be open minded for Christian values, (perfect would be a YMCA background), and it would be excellent if you have experiences in youth work. You have to be open to work with international people and must not be afraid of responsibilities.
