Activity description

CIM Horyzonty is an organisation that works for non-formal education. It works mainly for social integration in one of the district of Poznan- Lazarus, it organizes training programmes and actions for international solidarity. The EVS project is focused on the intercultural education, youth empowerment and development of social skills. It's implemented via various activities, workshops, events, meetings and social animation. The project involves the whole local community. The volunteers will work mainly with youth but also with adults and seniors. Volunteers will have also trainings in local entrepreneurs.Example of the activities: intercultural workshops and presentations in schools, language cafes, animating space in community garden and local cultural center by presenting a variety of activities, local campaigns, developing youth projects along with local teenagers. Volunteer’s tasks are based on individual activities, according to the competence and confidence.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will live in long term dormitory shared amongst several young people of different cultures. Sofa Hostel is located in Lazarus district (about 10 minutes by walk to the office of CIM Horyzonty) and close to the local market with fruits and vegetables. Each volunteers will have his/her own room with shared kitchen and bathroom with other people. Each volunteer receives food allowance which helps him/her take care of individual dietry needs. The public tranport mainly is no needed but volunteers receive the public transport card to use in case of necessity.

Training during the activity

The hosting organisation provides support and training in the area of social animation, intercultural education, antidiscrimination education, communication and non-formal methodology. Depending on the volunteer's interest the organisation may also offer training or practical experience in other areas such as coordination, administration, public relations or organisation of bigger even. The volunteers will have also the practice internship in local enterpreneurs in the beginning of the project.
