Results of the Photo Contest - February 2019 (working with elderly)
Diana from Ukraine: I am volunteering in Centru Tbexbix, Malta. Working with elderly is one of the part of our project. That day, we went with elderly to Upper Barrakka Gardens, a really beautiful and magnificent place with a lovely view. It was my first outing with them. I did not know how it should be, how I need to behave with them, I did not have that much experience. First, we walked a bit, then we drank tea and coffee and after we started to dance. And in that moment everything changed. I realised that now we are in the same level. Everyone enjoyed that atmosphere that was in the air. I was not afraid anymore to communicate with elderly, as I found my personal way through a dance. Everyone was engaged; even waiters from a café joined us and started to dance with us! We laughed. We talked. We created funny movements. We were a unity. It was my magic moment I would love to share. It is important not be afraid to make some fun together. It does not matter how old you are, 7 or 69.
Serhii from Ukraine: When volunteering in Cospicua, Malta, in 2018 I got experience working with elderly I understood how lonely we can feel when
aging. How apathy can take its place. When working with elderly my magic moment is very ordinary. Make them feel interested to very simple thing. To each other. We organised a sport event with elderly and children. We united them to make a bit profound connection between each other. My goal was not to make a competition but a teamwork, as our project supports neo humanistic techniques.
