Crescent Arts Centre (only for volunteers from countries indicated)
Belfast, United Kingdom
1 , ClosedProject description
The Crescent is a vibrant community arts centre & cultural hub where everyone can experience the power of the arts & develop their creativity. We provide opportunities for people to meet, be inspired, experience & participate in a wide range of art forms & our offering is simple: each week we have a host of live events & offer a diverse learning programme. Please see below & our website for further information. The Volunteer will mainly be supporting the Marketing Officer but will also have an opportunity to experience many aspects of the functions required to run a busy & successful multi-disciplined arts centre including box office, front of house, programming, events & festivals & will benefit from a tailored programme that will aim to take account of the volunteers own skills & interests.
TranslateAccommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will live in shared accommodation in South or East Belfast, along with Erasmus+ volunteers from other projects which are co-ordinated by Bryson. S/he will have their own bedroom and will share kitchen, living room & bathroom. The project is within walking distance of the volunteer accommodation. The volunteer will receive food money and volunteer allowance weekly.
TranslateTraining during the project
The volunteer will receive induction & orientation training on arrival, both generic & specific to The Crescent. S/he will receive an organisational Induction plus training in relevant policies & procedures. There may be occasional opportunities to attend relevant external training. The Volunteer will be encouraged to enroll in one of our many classes & workshops each term which serves to further develop their skills & interests, enable them to learn as part of a community group & to evaluate classes. Volunteers will be registered onto the OLS system to support language learning.
TranslateVolunteer profile
The volunteer MUST be from one the countries listed - we are unable to consider volunteers from any other country. The volunteer should have a good level of English or be prepared to work hard to improve their language skills quickly, since the role will involve direct contact with the public, including face to face & telephone contact. The placement involves working alongside the Marketing Officer, but those with no experience can apply. The placement will be of most interest to someone who wishes to understand the running of a multi-disciplinary arts centre and is willing to work hard.
TranslateHow to apply
Volunteers MUST be from one of the countries indicated. Email mhegarty@brysongroup.org (& NOT the Crescent) with full CV & motivation letter which is SPECIFIC to the project, stating in the email & letter that you are applying for the Crescent Arts Centre placement.
