Education through activities

Project description

The daily work of the EVS volunteer will take place in Open Centres (CO) for children, teenagers and youngsters from 4 to 16 y.o. with social and economic difficulties (family troubles, school absences,...). That centres are developing educational activities by their leisure time (after school). Main activities of volunteers will be accompanied by other workers in the educational activities. These activities are almost like leisure time activities, hand craft, computer, sports, games and also homework or reading activities. Volunteers support also to the educators is special activities or when a children group move to another centre. Prosec manages two Open Center, both in downtown, names are: CO Companyia and CO Remolins. There are two workers (educators) and other volunteers and students. There is also a Supervisor who supports to the volunteers and answer them their questions.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The accommodation is in the city of Lleida with an apartment shared by the other European volunteers. Apartment is situated in downtown (Address: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Lleida). Is has XXXX rooms, a dining room/kitchen and a WC. The volunteer will have her own room and the kitchen, living room and bathroom will be shared with the same volunteers. In the apartment to smoke it’s not allowed. Electricity and heating will be paid for the Hosting Organisation up to an amount. Volunteer will receive 160 euro each month to cover the costs of food and cleaning products every first week of the month.

Training during the project

Volunteers receive twice per week (Tuesday and Friday), for one hour and a half every class, Spanish course, with a volunteer teacher. The linguistic training will be managed by local volunteers and it will use the OLS platform as well. It could find catalan classes too if the volunteer wants to. It’s important to notice that in Catalonia we understand two languages but our official language is catalan, so mostly of the people speak usually in catalan. Please if you want more information about this, just ask us or try to be informed before you come to avoid surprises.

We appreciatte some skills in spanish to help the integration to the project, experience/interest in the fiel of children and young people with disavatadges, but is not required.
