Project description

ODEMIRA NA EUROPA III - EVS project is coordinated by the Municipality of Odemira and comprehends 8 volunteering positions in the county of Odemira, rural South of Portugal. It's a collective volunteering experience involving 6 local partners. A Copa da Vida is a non-profit-association, running an ecological community immersed in nature, a seminar-place and environmental activities, as well as providing retreat places in Vale Bacias – Alentejo. The Intention is the manifestation of a sustainable, conscious and loving way of life. One volunteer will be hosted by A Copa da Vida ecological community for 12 months, near the village of Colos. We ask the volunteers to be interested in nature, community, communication and a simple and alternative lifestyle.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will share a room with one or two more volunteers in our Swabedou Youth House. We offer free transport by car once a week to Odemira for the language course and at least two times a week a lift to Colos or Reliquias. We also offer free use of a bicycle. Meals are vegetarian and are prepared in a collective way, in the common kitchen.

Volunteer profile

Volunteer is interested in nature (specially tree-nursery), community, communication and simple and alternative lifestyle. We are a drug-, meat-, smoke- and alcohol-free place and expect volunteers to respect these conditions 100%. Volunteer has never done EVS before. Be open for: Gaining awareness about communication and action patterns and implementing non-violent communication in daily life Sharing daily life in a group of 12/15 people Tolerance towards people with special needs Simple infrastructure (compost toilets, solar depending hot water supply) Low media presence
