Posledná aktualizácia utorok, 22/03/2022

How is the European Union supporting Ukrainian pupils, teachers and people fleeing from Ukraine? Find out about the Cohesion's Action for Refugees in Europe (CARE), the Erasmus+ programme, the School Education Gateway and eTwinning.

What can be done through the Cohesion's Action for Refugees in Europe (CARE)?

  • Swift reallocation of available funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Fund for the European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD) to finance a wide range of measures supporting people fleeing Ukraine.
  • Emergency support covering the basic needs of people fleeing Ukraine. These needs include access to services such as temporary accommodation, food and water supplies or medical care.
  • Find out more on how CARE funding will support people fleeing Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

How can the Erasmus+ programme help you?

  • Ukrainian pupils can be welcomed quickly by education and training institutions involved in Erasmus+ cooperation projects, with flexible use of project funding.
  • Are you a Ukrainian teacher and trainer? You can receive financial support to facilitate your integration.
  • If you are a qualified staff, you may be sent, on a temporary basis, to regions where refugees are accommodated.
  • Are you an Institution benefiting from ongoing Erasmus+ projects in areas such as inclusion, diversity and integration of refugees? If yes, you can, on a voluntary basis, reallocate part of your funds in support of activities for Ukrainian refugees.

Teachers and students #StandWithUkraine. How can the School Education Gateway assist teachers and Ukrainian refugees?

  • It will facilitate the exchange of information and experiences and on supporting the integration of young Ukrainian refugees into the education systems of the Member States.
  • Are you a teacher? The School Education Gateway will organise a professional development course on the integration of newly arrived refugees in schools.
  • It will become the place informing about educational resources, which will allow children to continue learning also in their mother tongue. The Gateway can establish a link with national learning platforms made available to young people and teachers in Ukrainian language - check out the new website and find several articles and resources to support the integration of young Ukrainian refugees into the education systems of EU Member States and Erasmus+ countries.

Are you a teacher of young Ukrainian refugees?

  • eTwinning will support you, the school staff and pupils in exchanging and coordinating their grass-roots solidarity activities by creating a dedicated group in the secure space of the platform.

Not only that, but the European Commission will also set up an EU Education Solidarity group for Ukraine to pool the expertise of every Member State on the continuing training of young Ukrainian refugees.
