Discover a hidden gem in the Netherlands: Arnhem!

Stroopwafels, cheese, tulips and clogs. These are the words most people think of when they hear about the Netherlands. But there is so much more to discover about this beautiful small country!

From the 20th to 21st of July, you have the opportunity to meet other travellers from all over Europe and discover the beautiful city of Arnhem. This is the hometown of the young Audrey Hepburn, thought-provoking poster maker Loesje, fashion designers Spijkers & Spijkers, much-beloved ballet group Introdans and many more. Arnhem has a lot to offer when it comes to art and culture. And nature isn't hard to find in a city that's located right next to the biggest national park of The Netherlands where you can also find the famous Kröller-Müller Museum, the home of many Van Gogh artworks!

Programme

We start the day by picking you up from the station and travelling to the hostel. Make sure you are there before 12.00! Once at the hostel, we will have lunch and get to know each other. We take a moment to reflect on your trip – what have you done, seen and experienced so far?

We then set out to do something everyone who is able-bodied enough and who visits the Netherlands MUST DO at least once: bike! Together we will glide through the ‘green heart’ of the Netherlands. Biking surely will give you a new perspective on travelling.

After that we will head into Arnhem’s old city centre where we will meet a couple of young locals who will give us a special tour. They are volunteers at USE-IT – beautifully illustrated city maps with tips from locals that you can find throughout Europe. No boring city tour but one that gives you all the need-to-knows from the perspective of a local.

We will end the day with a dinner. In the evening you are free to roam the city yourself or with your newly found travel buddies!

Did you know? The 21^st of July is the last day of the Nijmegen Vierdaagse, a huge event which is very famous in the Netherlands. For a total of 4 days people walk a particular route around Nijmegen, the oldest city of the Netherlands. During these walks there are many festivities throughout the city. A crazy fun experience! When you leave our meet-up, you might want to go and check it out… It’s only a 11-minute train ride. 😊
