Discover the new European Capitals of Culture!

Esch-sur-Alzette, Kaunas and Novi Sad are the three European cities holding the title of European Capital of Culture for the year 2022.

With the aim of promoting the European Union values of diversity, solidarity, respect, tolerance and openness, each city will provide a yearlong cultural programme. 

What are the programmes in each city? 
 
Novi Sad (Serbia) is the first European cultural capital in Serbia. Under the motto “ For New Bridges” its programme will focus on eight thematic arches addressing issues like migration, peace, multiculturalism and the role of women in art and youth culture. 
For sure something you cannot miss!
 
Kaunas is the second city in Lithuania to hold the European Capital of Culture title after Vilnius in 2009. Its slogan “From temporary to Contemporary Capital” illustrates the city’s ambition. Lots of events will be held during the year, of which more than 50 will be premieres. What an opportunity!

Last but not least,  there is Esch-sur-Aizette (Luxemburg). Under the slogan ‘REMIX Culture’ and the programme will focus on four main areas:

·       REMIX Art
·       REMIX Nature
·       REMIX Yourself

Esch2022 is going to celebrate the history of a cross-border region located in the heart of Europe. What do you know about this region? Not much? Then visit the city and discover it! Esch2022 will tell you the story of its evolution from the industrial age based on the steel industry, to its present knowledge society and its future potential in the era of digital revolution.
